Pearse Óg V Sarsfields 23rd February @ Cathedral Road Complex

Pearse Óg V Crossmaglen

Pearse Óg have been drawn in the same group as Cullyhanna, Crossmaglen and Sarsfields.

If you are interested in coaching or have coached in the past and would like to get back involved in 2014 please get in touch with Tony Davidson Youth officer. All support at any age group would be greatly appreciated.

Pearse Óg Fun 5’s program for U-8 & U-10s development will not take place on the following dates due to refurbishment and Mid-Term break at Lisanally Youth Centre Thursday 13th February & Thursday 20th February. The FUN 5’s will continue on Thursday 27th February.

U-8s 6pm-7pm and U-10s 7pm-8pm. We would request that all participants along with a parent/guardian arrive 15 minutes early to complete a registration form EACH NIGHT and provide relevant contact details. We primarily aim to host the event for the benefit of children hoping/playing for Pearse Óg but as it's an event aimed at Fun and Participation all are welcome within the the relevant age groups. To assist some of the children who cannot get transport to the venue we, again, are providing a minibus at the following points:

U-8 Collection Points

5.40pm Kellys Filling Station
5.45pm Mullacreevie Shop
5.45pm Bottom of Mullacreevie Hill leading to Callanbridge
5.50pm Callanbridge Bus Stop

7pm Returning to collection points

U-10 Collection Points

6.40pm Kellys Filling Station
6.45pm Mullacreevie Shop
6.45pm Bottom of Mullacreevie Hill leading to Callanbridge
6.50pm Callanbridge Bus Stop

8pm Returning to collection points

No child will be permitted onto the bus without parent/guardian registration and contact number. Parents/guardians MUST be at collection points at either 7pm (U-8s) or 8pm (U-10s) as our schedule is very tight.

Pearse Óg will provide fully qualified and GAA vetted friendly coaches at the event so rest assured your child will be in good hands.

"Fun 5's" has been a tremendous success in introducing the kids to Gaelic Football. No previous knowledge of the game is necessary as coaching will be given to all and they will enjoy playing Gaelic for an hour. Parents are very welcome to stay and watch but please be aware that it is not a competitive environment - the emphasis will be on Fun and Participation and we hope you will encourage the children in a positive manner.

We would like to thank you for sending your child to this event and would advise you that this is being provided FREE of charge by Pearse Óg. Lotto tickets will be on sale at the venue and we would hope that you would purchase a ticket each week (£1) to help us to continue to provide this service to your kids. If you would like to help out in any way - contact Tony 07780954480 or BJ 07562009907 for more information.

DVDs of the brilliant STEPPING OUT are now available, please contact Gerard 07718104662 or Paul 07521272984 for orders.

Academy sessions continue this Wednesday for U-12/U-14 (born between 1st January 2000 & 31st December 2002) 6pm-7pm @ Cathedral Road Complex

Pearse Óg Academy was established to help children improve their skills, fitness and general wellbeing whilst socialising with their team mates and some new recruitments to the club. Initially the idea came about because the club saw that when the season finished in September, for most players they wouldn’t be playing Gaelic Sport again until the new season re-commenced in 2014 (probably early March) As this is a voluntary event it placed more emphasis on the kid wanting to attend as a choice of recreation rather than having to attend during the season for team selection.

It was also used as a mechanism for providing high level coaching in a Fun, safe and new format and to attract new coaches to the club and indeed 6 new coaches were in attendance and they will be commencing their coaching badges early in February.

Gerard Davidson, Chairman of Pearse Ógs, stated that, ‘Clubs in the cities are under increasing pressure to ensure that they retain their membership and have a positive community identity. There is so much competition from other sports, clubs and associations that local clubs must do all in their power to ensure that we give our children a top class experience. We now need to ensure that we have an all year offering which will allow the children to remain with us whilst also trying to attract new members from the greater Armagh community. With this in mind the Academy has really helped and made a great start’.

The Academy is managed by the various volunteers from Pearse Óg’s from the women’s committee who provide much needed winter refreshments to the players and coaches who display great skill and enthusiasm.

Training continues each Monday evening 5.45pm indoors at Pearse Óg Park. Please bring £2.

All players to attend Pearse Óg park Tuesday 11th at 6.30pm

All Pearse Óg players in age groups U-16 to U-19 are asked to attend Cathedral Road Complex every Thursday 9pm-10pm. A mini bus will be available for lifts home after the sessions, as these sessions are on a 3G pitch no metal stud boots will be allowed. These sessions will be run in a game format so come along and enjoy the fun. For more information contact Youth Officer Tony Davidson 07780954480.
