Pearse Ógs made the short journey across town to play local rivals Armagh Harps in round 7 of the U-10 Go Games league.
The large turnout of players once again allowed us to field two teams.
The games were very competitive with some excellent scoring on display.
The players worked tirelessly in the very warm conditions and played as a team.
It was very pleasing to watch these young footballers in action and a great mornings football was enjoyed by all.
The standard of football continues to improve each week and it’s a credit to the players the effort they are putting into training and match days.
Many thanks to Armagh Harps for hosting and refereeing the games.
Thanks to the parents for their continued support and especially those who provided transport.

Congratulations to all the U-12 girls who won a very tough match against Cullyhanna. Played at home on a warm evening the girls showed great skill, teamwork and stamina during the entire match against strong opposition. Brilliant display of football for the large group of supporters and parents who encouraged and cheered the girls for the entire match. Every player gave 100% and never stopped fighting for the ball and their team mates. The management was so proud of every single player. Don't forget training for ALL under-age girls teams on Monday and Thursday 6pm-7pm at Pearse Óg park.
On Saturday the Pearse Óg U-12’s faced a strong Clan na Gael team at Pearse Óg Pairc, Ballycrummy. Despite a final score line in favour of the visitors, this was an extremely positive performance by the home side. The score line does not do justice to the hard work and quality of the football produced by the home side. In terms of possession both teams were fairly even, however Clan’s were more clinical in taking their scoring opportunities.
Goalkeeper, Adam Murtagh was as solid as he has been all season. Confidently dealing with the high ball, stopping many goal bound shots, while distributing the ball intelligently out of hand.
The defence worked tirelessly throughout. Pressurising the Clan’s forwards into many mistakes and wides. Aoife Boyle, Charles Leonard and Fiachra Moore were tigerish in their tackling, while Aidan Harney found time to push forward in support of his midfield.
The addition of Conor Toner to midfield, in his first game of the season, is a major boost to the team. With his ability to win possession, while driving forward into the forward line, Conor has given the whole team great confidence.
Up front, Casey Mullan and Ronan Davidson at full forward caused untold problems for the Clan’s defence while contributing to most of the Óg’s scoring.
Special mention must go to super-sub Owen Kelly. Entering the game five minutes into the second half, Owen immediately made an impact with a personal tally of 1-1, showing a real killers instinct and composure in front of goal.
In a very difficult season for the U-12 team, this has been a great game for the team. It shows that the hard work on the training field is beginning to pay off, and will continue to do so.
Training continues Wednesday 6pm-7.15pm and Saturday T.B.C.
