Message of thanks

We just wanted to thank the two lads that went out of their way to give us directions this evening Sunday 8th August. We pulled into the club after being diverted numerous times in the city on our way to Omagh. They drove us to the road we needed to get us home. They are a credit to your club, Many thanks again Ursula and Leona.

Well done lads!

SENIOR LADIES REPORT

Senior Ladies Semi-final game v Tír na nÓg Wednesday 10th August 2016
Pearse Óg ladies travelled to Portadown to take on Tír na nÓg in their Junior championship semi- final outing last Wednesday. With the possiblity of reaching their first ever final at stake, the girls knew this was going to be a game that would demand everything from them.
Pearse Ög got off to a good start, scoring the first 3 points if the game courtesy of Katie Boylan and Colette Darragh.
It didn't take Tír na nÓg long to find the posts and the sides were level and after some great play by the Portadown side saw them score a goal to go 3 points in front. The Ógs were not to be outdone and replied with a goal of their own. A Joanne Grover shot came of the post and found the boot of Colette Darragh who  put it in the net.
A spell of good play from Tír na nÓg saw the Ógs keeper make a flurry of saves, however they scores a great point to remain in front.
They made a further break through just before half time to score their second goal leaving the score at the break Tír na nÓg 2-04 : Pearse Ög 1-04.
The Ógs girls came out fighting in the second half and attacked the Tír na nÓg defence. A long range kick from Eimear Brady dropped into the net and the sides were level.
Tír na nÓg, true to form quickly replied with another goal to leave the Ógs chasing the game again. However the Ögs defence remained strong and before long all efforts were rewarded as Katie Boylan scored the Ógs third goal to level the game level again. This was the the way the game was to remain ebbing and flowing. Tír na nÓg scored a further two points to take the lead again until a great run from Celine Cauldwell saw the Ögs score a great point, which was quickly followed by another excellent effort by Nadine Darragh with 3 minutes remaining to level the game yet again. With the final whistle looming the Ógs continued to push forward and eventually won a free. Katie Boylan stepped up  and put it over to go one point up. The keeper kicked the ball out and the referees whistle sounded.
Relieved, excited and extremely happy faces from all the Ógs girls who, at last, are in a championship final. A great team performance on the night and despite some wayward shooting, the never say die attitude was evident.
Granemore provide the opposition in what will be a very difficult task their first Junior final on August 27th. Venue to be confirmed. Well done to all the girls and management!

U-14 BOYS REPORT

Our U-14 season seems to have kicked off in great fashion over the last 2 weeks. Our young gaels had a fantastic win over our neighbours Madden in the Hughes McGerrigan West Armagh Festival tournament semi-final. A win all the sweeter after Madden had given our boys a drubbing the previous Sunday. They then played a highly fancied Armagh Harps in the final on the following Saturday and lost out narrowly after a fantastic second half display. Congratulations to Tiernan Donnelly on his Player of the Match performance.

On Tuesday past our U-14s travelled to St Pauls in Lurgan and won again. Well done lads. Hard work is rewarding.

A couple more league matches are to be played with next on the calendar a home fixture against Tír Na nÓg on Tuesday 16th August. Full attendance is requested for all matches and training.

U-12.5 REPORT

In the past week our U-12.5 group had 2 excellent performances at home v Maghery on Wednesday and away to Middletown on Saturday. As the holiday season closes numbers are increasing and with it energy levels too. Great progress is being made and the young gaels should be applauded for their efforts. Fixtures as always are confirmed by text and at the next training session so attendance at training is a must. See you all at 6.15 sharp this Wednesday. More matches are scheduled for the next 3/4 Saturdays. PREPARE TO TRAIN - TRAIN TO PLAY is the moto.

Congratulations to Oisín O'Callaghan and Conor Duffy who won the draw to represent Pearse Og u12.5 in Croke Park on Tuesday. We've no doubt that you will represent your club proudly. Enjoy the experience and let's hope you can repeat the same for your club and county in future years.

U-10 Report/Training

Our Under 10s travelled to Newcastle on Saturday to compete in the inaugural Michael Hanley under 10 Tournament.

Our green team played out group matches against the hosts Bryansford, Clonduff and St. Bridgets from Belfast, Playing some great football our young Gaels were unbeaten and qualified for the plate semi final were they faced a strong Mayobridge team. Our lads battled hard and won a very close game to qualify for their first final this year. In a very tight game they lost narrowly to Clonduff. Our Gaels although disappointed on the day played brilliantly and can be very proud their performances.

The gold team played in a tough group drawing two and winning two games to qualify for a cup quarter final against Roche Emmetts from Louth. Our lads battled tenaciously to set up a semi final clash with the hosts Bryansford. In what was the game of the tournament the lads won with a golden score by Tom Scallon. This set up a final clash with Armagh neighbours Carrickcruppen. Yet again our young Gaels upped their game, and led by their inspirational captain Ryan Mc Gahan ran 1-3 to 1-0 winners.
A great day for the lads who were all a credit to their club and families.
