Micky Donnelly U-8 Tournament 2018
Micky Donnelly U-8 Tournament 2018
Na Piarsaigh Óga will be hosting our first ever U8 Tournament in memory of Pearse Óg great Micky Donnelly
The lionhearted Micky D was one of the old school Gaelic footballers but immensely talented with it. His Ógs career seen him play from the mid-60s right through to 1980. He was captain of the ’67 Intermediate Champs and centre-back in ’73. Solid and dependable, Micky’s experience was most valuable in helping in the development of many a younger player, so when the opportunity arose it was with-out hesitation the Club were privileged to remember such a great Pearse Óg Man.
This inaugural Tournament involving 16 teams takes place this Saturday 1st September with games starting at 10am.
RESULTS/SCORES & REPORTS
Na Piarsaigh Óga 2-11 St. Pat’s, Cullyhanna 3-16
Na Piarsaigh Óga hosted St Peters, Lurgan on Monday evening.
On a wonderful evening for football and the pitch in perfect condition, the Ógs players settled immediately into their rhythm, playing with speed, power and aggression which saw them race into an early sizeable lead that allowed them to begin to express themselves through some terrific passages of play.
We had some outstanding performers all over the pitch, running out comfortable winners.
Thank you to St Peters for a sporting contest throughout.
We are now in the semi - final, with a lot of hard work to get through between now and then. Training will continue on Thursday as normal.
Thank you to all the parents and supporters for all your support tonight.
Our Under 12.5s travelled to Tullysarran on Saturday morning for a challenge match.
With some of our younger lads taking centre stage Ógs started strongly and played some great football in the first period. Tullysarran to their credit fought back but our young gaels kept their composure and finished strongly to run out ready winners. On a day when our lads played well Ben Harney who was our top scorer, Jamie Nixon, James Hughes and Ciaran Corrigan all impressed. Well done lads. Thanks to all parents who came out to support and also Tullysarran for a good competitive match.
Training continues every Sunday 10am -11am. Remember water bottle, gum shield and £1.
