In their second home game of this championship Na Piarsaigh Óga had to dig deep several times to secure the points. They were 6 and 4 points in front during the second half of this competitive encounter against a never say die Dromintee team. Final score 3.11 to 2.12 probably says more for an Ógs habit of losing concentration when they should have gone for the 'jugular'.
Dromintee were fired up for this match and split the posts in their first attack. A turnover from an Ógs surge downfield ended in a wide from D'tee as they played into a strong breeze towards McKee's yard.  This kick out was won by midfielder Conor McNicholl, who had an industrious performance throughout. His pass to Gearoid O'Leary supported by Paudie Feeney who dropped the ball into the box for Tiernan Donnelly to blast to the net.
Ógs won this kick out and Conor Nugent racing in from the wing repeated the pass to 'Yank' but this time his shot was saved, Dromintee moving it quickly up field  and converted a 21free.
Another clearance by D'tee was worked through the lines gaining a free in midfield for their half forward to pump a high ball into the square. Malachy Traynor rose high to catch but it slips through his hands and rolls into the net . Game on. Ógs 1.00 to 1.02 D'tee. 7mins gone
Three frees won by Ógs resulted in a point by Carson from 'the 40'. Óg’s then won the next two kick out’s with a point for Ryan Trainor and then Carson after Donnelly draws a free.
Another Ógs attack with a 'danger ball' into the square gave Nugent ,then Donnelly, a sniff at a second goal but D,tee eventually clear their lines to move it up field and gain a free on the 21' for a point. Malachy tries the right wing along the dugouts where Freeman coasts unnoticed gaining possession. Freeman breaks a tackle heads for goal along with O'Leary who receives a hand pass for him to blast the net for Ógs second goal.
Ógs increase their lead after Shay Harney, corner back, clears an attack down to Feeney in midfield who is fouled allowing Carson to point.

This good work by Ogs was admired to long as D'tee replied with a point poked over the bar when it easily could have hit the back of the net. Next kick out was won by Harney who was fouled and the free converted by Graham from right hand side.
Dromintee answered with a point from their no10 who was proving a thorn in the Ógs defence.

Nugent had another sniff at goal when McNicholl jumped high to win ball in midfield. His pass to A Traynor was delivered to Nugent who let the ball bounce, beating his marker, but from a narrow angle skims the uprights.
Ógs win the resulting goal kick finding Feeney on the right wing and his ball into the square was tapped over by a cool headed McCay for a point.
Several turnovers and a wide by Carson ensued as both teams seem to take a breather before Dromintee's No 10 popped up with a long speculative shot which carries over the Ógs bar.
An injury in a tackle for Harney ended the half and the teams ran in from the cold October wind with 3 points in Ógs favour 2.06 to 1.06

Second half seen the Tricolour easing in the breeze and any advantage for the Ógs attack slackening as the conflict resumes. Again Dromintee win the throw in but persistent fouling allows Carson a free near the 45' line which he pushes narrowly wide. He amends this miss brilliantly when Ógs win the resulting kick out and a high ball into the small square ends untouched and into the Onion bag! 3.06 to 1.06.
Cue Ógs going to sleep as Dromintee moved the ball up field with little resistance for No. 12 to grab an easy point. They win another free as Carson is injured and play is delayed. This free is put into the Ógs box but two goal bound shots are cleared before another free is tapped over. A poor kick out to Dromintee's danger man No.10 is gratefully accepted and pointed.
That bit of good fortune in Carson's goal was wiped out in minutes with the determination mentioned by Dromintee.

O'Leary clears the kick out and a one two with Freeman sees him fouled allowing Justy to point. Feeney kicks a wide as management start using subs with Ruairí Kelly replacing Feeney.
D'tee win their goal kick and a ball to their forward No.14 on the right wing is fouled by fullback Heaney who is yellow carded. A quick free and No.14 points from distance.
Subs warm up as Ógs eventually get more competitive wining a free by Harney on the left wing about 40' out for Carson to send over the black spot. A foul pick up by Dromintee defence lets Justin Graham point and Adrian Traynor wins a 45'
after a sharp attack by Ógs which Carson converts. Dromintee come back with a shot on goal from point blank range after Malachy misses a catch only for O'Leary to save and clear up field for another Ógs wide.
A bit like a tennis game the ball wasn't staying long in either half of the field but two jersey pulls by Harney on 30'mtrs, and then by Heaney in the square, results in 2 yellow cards and a penalty. This is dispatched by D'tee No. 11 sending Traynor the wrong way. A double substitution by management Gilsenan for O'Leary and Mullan for McCay  was greeted with a point for Dromintee from the Ógs kickout. 1 point in it.
Justy kicked a wide in the next attack. With the Ógs now needing to win this game 'Again' an imperative if we were to do anything in this Championship.
Five minutes were left as D'tee themselves shoot wide. Ógs win the goal kick and another high ball in the wind from Carson finds Traynor getting a 45'
Poor execution of his kick is put out for a second 45'  and precious time ticking on.
This is put wide but from the KO Justy is fouled and Carson's long ball into Yank results in a third 45' ( as good as a score) but  is again pushed wide.
Dromintee throw all at attack and unsurprisingly Carson repeats a steal from the Dromintee attack to Sean Mullan standing free on halfway. He carries it on to Conor Nugent rushing in to the square only for the full back  to get fingertips to his shot as a goal looked certain. Again the Óg’s defence holds firm for a second Mullan breakaway along with Gilsenan . This time Liam is fouled by the rearguard on the 21 line and Justy scores the final point for Ógs to win by two.
3.11 to 2.12 .This Ógs team have improved from last game but CONCENTRATION throughout the team and throughout the game will be the least needed to progress in Cullyhanna.
Michael Carson 1.05, Justy Graham 0.04(f), Ryan Trainor 0.01, G O'Leary 1.0, Tiernan Donnelly 1.0, Junior McCay 0.01.

Strong performances by Carson, Nugent, Graham, O 'Leary, McNicholl and Harney.
